An Unwrapped Gift

It is the holiday season and people are shopping or looking for the next great gift. But, there are some who are less fortunate this year. Those who maybe have never been in this position before in their lives are now finding it hard to tell their kids or their loved ones that they can't afford a gift this year.

As you go though this season, remember that the best gift you can give a person is one that doesn't require wrapping. A gentle smile, a kind word or even a helping hand can go a long way to bring cheer. Did you know that a smile releases hormones that tell your body how to feel? That is right! Your movement of a muscle to form a smile changes your mood and can also be a mood changer for the next person who needs it. As my pastor says, it is easy to have joy when everything is going well, but the Bible declares that we should rejoice always. This means even in the worst of times. A pretty box may give your eyes delight but by this time next year, you may forget about that box. Try something else that is lasting. Find safe ways to enjoy your family and friends without the pressure of having to give a gift. If you have it to give, that is fine but don't forget that your memory reminds you most of the moments you spend that don't have a monetary value. Money comes and goes at the speed of a bill or a life situation.

Focus on what matters. Center your attention on being kind and loving one another without a price tag attached. I can remember not having a whole lot but having everything I needed as a child. And that was enough! Why? I craved the experience more than the gift.

Keep shining, keep living and stay motivated.

Giving you the Ladder Up to inspiration, motivation, and education!

Blessings,

Rosalind
